  83. Telnet Option draft RFCs - What are in the queue??

  85.    o Borman's Telnet Linemode:  This is in the queue now for
  86.      becoming an RFC. It has been handed off to Phill Gross.

  91. Borman presented proposed agenda to group and asked what else
  92. should be included:
  93. Bill Westfield lobbied for a document on Telnet with X.3
  94. negotiations -- he was overruled.  It was decided that this along
  95. with item 10, was out of the scope of this group.
  96. RFC 854 and Postel - Is there a justification for a "revised"
  97. Telnet spec??  There seemed to be general agreement that a better
  98. approach would be to answer all the other questions first, and
  99. that would decide this question for us.
  100. The next item up for discussion was possible future options for
  101. Telnet that are needed.

  128.      on.  (This is re-constructed from memory, so please let me

  188. Borman's concept of the new Telnet Working Group:

  190.      This group is not to disband, but upon completion of their
  191.      activities, go dormant from time to time, and start up and
  192.      become available as a group to review Telnet draft RFCs,
  193.      etc....as needed.

  195. Discussion/Issues of 7 bit, 8 bit binary:
  196.  
  197.   1. Delay problem between client and server, interrupt character,
  198.      interrupt systems, interrupt marker - Linemode really helps
  199.      you here in this realm.
  200.  
  201.   2. Interrupt - telnet process can control things, output prompt
  202.      between the two.
  203.  
  204.   3. Host Requirement RFC document - discussion regarding "clean
  205.      wording" of Telnet in the Host Requirement RFC. In particular,
  206.      a statement on 7, 8 bit data passing; 8 bit should NOT be used
  207.      for parity bit.
  208.  
  209.   4. Should anything be said in the Host Requirement RFC re:  7, 8
  210.      bit??  What about the statement of "SHOULD or MUST" negotiate
  211.      binary??
  212.  
  213.   5. Should the Telnet standard be changed/updated to reflect the
  214.      context of Host Requirements RFC??
  215.  
  216.   6. Items d and e were not resolved at this meeting.  There is a
  217.      need to soften the wording on the Telnet statement that's
  218.      going into the Host Requirements RFC. Borman to talk to
  219.      Braden.

  221.   7. Bernstein's Q-Method RFC. Postel asked the Telnet WG to review
  222.      and comment.  Group comment is that it should not be issued as
  223.      an RFC. Part of it should be rewritten, and incorporated with
  224.      whatever we release for a replacement/update to the Telnet
  225.      RFC. It was felt that the real world was not having problems
  226.      with option negotiation loops, so it isn't a problem that
  227.      requires an immediate solution.
